Today we finally kick off our blog to share our travel adventures with our family and friends. As many of you were aware, we officially left Honolulu on July 12th. Our farewell was bittersweet. We were very fortunate to have had the opportunity to live in such a beautiful place. We met so many great people and developed some wonderful friendships. During our time in Hawaii, we were able to visit almost all of the islands. Hawaii is truly a unique and very special place, and we feel blessed to have lived there for three plus years. We were sad to say goodbye yet excited about all of the possibilities that lie ahead of us.
With the goal of transporting our car 3,000 miles from Seattle to Boston, we have opted for a two month, 8,000 mile, cross-country adventure that will eventually lead us through approximately 25+ states. Along the way, we will sight see in both well-known destinations as well as off-the-beaten-path excursions, take many side trips, and visit many of you. We are considering this to be an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as we have no real time constraints. So, we will try to do and see as much as conceivably possible.
Currently, we are in Boise, Idaho visiting with Krista's family and resting up for the big trip ahead. After a week and a half of traveling through Washington and Oregon, we have quickly learned how tiring continual travel can be.
So, for a quick recap on our travels till now, we have …
Started our trip in Seattle with a delightful visit with Sam’s Auntie Cecile, Uncle Ed, and Grandma Chang. We spent 4 great days catching up with our family and enjoying Seattle. Then, after picking up our little Honda from the port in Seattle, we officially began our road trip. We put our car on the ferry and headed to …
Bainbridge Island. We stopped here to visit with Kelly - a friend of Krista’s who just so happened to be in the area. We had so much fun visiting and catching up. Then it was on to the Olympic Peninsula. We drove along the northern coast of Washington to the small town of ….
Forks. We stayed in a cute little Bed & Breakfast, and the next morning we ventured into the lush Hoh River Rainforest. It was fantastic and so completely different from Hawaii rainforests. We drove down the coast of Washington, crossed the Columbia River, and arrived in the charming town of Astoria, Oregon. We love Astoria and had such a fun time there. After another great B & B, we explored Cannon Beach; such breathtaking views of the Oregon coast! Next, we were off to….
Portland. We had a great time with our friends Jackie and Jun and even managed to squeeze in a day of wine tasting in the Willamette Valley! It was a perfect day; we all had a great time catching up. Our next destination was Boise, Idaho to rest, relax, and hang out with Krista’s family. On the way, we took the beautiful Columbia River Gorge Scenic Highway (oldest historic highway in the country). This was definitely worth taking a detour in order to see - beautiful views; especially the Multnomah Falls.
Now, we are just having a great time in Boise hanging out with our family and, especially, our nephews and niece; Austin, Casey, and Maddie. It is very hot here. So, we’ve been playing in the pool with the kids, floating the Boise River, Water Park, movies, and generally relaxing and having fun with the kids. We are particularly enjoying just being in one place for more than a few days. It’s been a nice little break in the travel schedule.
Below is a link to our Shutterfly web page that contains a few pictures of our journey so far. (We will also be updating this web page frequently.) You can add photos and comments, so please don’t hesitate to contribute.

And that, in a nutshell, has been the extent of our journey thus far. We hope you will keep checking back with us. There is so much more to come!
